CORONAVIRUS: SANWO-OLU DEPLOYS NEW EQUIPMENT AGAINST THE SPREAD OF CORONA

           DEPLOY OF NEW EQUIPMENT

As the nation continues to grapple with the spread of the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19), the Lagos State government has deployed more aerosol disinfectant and spraying equipment as part of measures to prevent the spread of the virus within the state.

Earlier this week, pictures of officials of the state Ministry of the Environment spraying bust stops and other public spaces had gone viral to the unanimous commendation of the public.

Since the advent of the virus all over the world, disinfecting of public spaces using manual spraying procedure has become a norm but that has changed recently with countries and governments employing different levels of technology and equipment including motorized ones.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been in the news for his sterling approach to combating the spread of the virus in the state, and with this latest deployment of fumigation equipment, he has yet again shown an unrivaled commitment to walk the talk by doing everything possible to ensure that COVID-19 becomes history in Lagos State.

In recent past, the Governor of Lagos had taken some definite and far-reaching decisions aimed at halting the spread of the coronavirus which started in through the index case; a forty-four year old Italian who flew into Nigeria from Milan.

Some of the steps taken by Sanwo-Olu and his cabinet include the restriction of public gatherings first to not more than fifty (50) people at a time, then to twenty-five (25) people in churches and other establishments, closure of both public and private primary and secondary schools followed by the closure of tertiary institutions, shutting down of bars, clubs, recreational facilities and event centres, then most recently, the order to shut down markets except those selling food, water, drugs and other essential commodities.
